Organic mattresses and beds, made by hand in Devon, UK

Handmade mattress makers Naturalmat are proud to stamp 'made by hand in Devon' on their products. Originating in the marine industry, Founders Mark Tremlett and Peter Tindall both sail and hated the synthetic mattresses found on most yachts.
They found that natural fibres make the best mattresses as they are inherently self-ventilating so designed a range for boats and yachts. When Mark’s wife became pregnant , they realised most baby and children’s mattresses were made from synthetic material so expanded the range.

Today, Naturalmat is an international award-winning business that offers a huge range of organic, natural and luxury mattresses, toppers, bedding and beds for babies through to adults. Handmade and bespoke, you can find mohair, cashmere, bamboo, cotton and natural latex in the range and their luxury beds can be found in hotels all over the world.

Why go organic? A good sleep naturally

We produce two type of mattress, the natural Fibre (airflow) and the Pocket Sprung. Both use natural fillings and layers of soft lambswool, cashmere and mohair, while our sprung mattresses contain hundreds of tensioned springs all individually wrapped in cotton pockets. All our mattresses can be made to measure and doubles can be separated with a zip link.

  • All natural fibre fillings
  • Layers of lambswool, cashmere & mohair
  • Naturally hypoallergenic
  • Used in the world’s top hotels
  • Made by hand in Devon
  • 10 year guarantee

Our range of organic cotton bedding is certified by GOTS and the Soil Association and comes unbleached and undyed. It’s the most natural bedding available, completely chemical free and all made to the highest ethical and organic standards.

Our organic cotton is not just beautifully natural, it’s also softer to the touch than heavily processed cotton, so it’s just perfect for little ones and their sensitive skin.

Handmade in devon

Now this might sound mad, but Naturalmat began on the high seas. We sailed and hated the synthetic mattresses you found on most yachts. So we started hand-making natural fibre products that wouldn’t sweat and would fit in a boat’s awkward spaces.

But after the birth of Mark’s first child, we had a light bulb moment. Why not devote the same clever thinking to baby mattresses? After all, little ones deserve a good night’s sleep too - not to mention the lovely, breathable qualities of an entirely natural product. And with that, Naturalmat was born.
